Thank you for all the lovely compliments. :muah: I threw her around me today as I sipped an iced chai tea in a freezing Starbucks and again in the freezing grocery store. It was the perfect light wrap!

I had so much fun knitting the clapotis, and after wearing it, I am dying to make another one!

I used Cherry Tree Hill Merino Superwash Supersock yarn. It was a fabulous yarn to knit--loved it--and the clappy has an awesome drapiness.
I used two different colorways (Foxy Lady and Cabin Fever), dropping one strand and picking up the other strand every other row, carrying them up the sides--carry it up loosely on the decrease part!

The clapotis (does anyone know how clapotis translates?) was quite easy to knit--I have been knitting less than a year (although I have been a knitting machine since beginning.)

Clapotis is the little waves you see in a lake. Like little ripples caused by the wind. That's according to my native french speaking husband.

Your clapotis really is lovely. I knit a smaller version last winter and it was so fun and addictive. Now that I see yours, I have the bug again to knit another. How many skeins did you use?

Thanks!
kimmie

I used 2 skeins of Cherry Tree Hill, 420 yds./skein. I had a little yarn left over. This is a fingering weight yarn, BTW, and a dream to knit with. I would avoid a yarn that has a lot of fuzz, because you have to drop some of the stitches down a loooonnnnngggg way and they stick when the yarn has a bunch of fuzziness.

My knit group is doing a clapotis knit a long starting next week. It's going to be so much fun!

I hope ours turn out as beautiful as yours!

I was wondering what Clappy would look like in a Fingering Weight yarn, but hadn't got around to swatching it yet.

I like... :)

callmesusan

I used #8 needles. I am interested to observe how the yarn wears. It is a dream to knit.
