So I have a good friend that lives about an hour away from me, and he moved here about a year ago from peru. (I was there on vacay two years ago) But anyway, today, he saw me knitting and asked what I was knitting with, and I told him that I was just using acryllic yarn because thats all I can really get around here...then get this...
his grandmother in peru spins her own alpaca and vacuna yarn! (For those of you who don't know, vacuna is in the llama/alpaca family, but its the best and most expensive. The cheapest vacuna scarf I could find in peru was $500.)
He talked to her, and she said if I could pay for shipping, she would give me a bunch!I'm SOOO excited!

I love peru...

Lucky, lucky you! I bought some vicuna fabric at local fabric store a couple of years ago. I had to ask the sales person what vicuna was as I was just standing there petting the fabric. It was marked $35/yard but he sold it to me for $25/yard. I made a unstructured coat. It is soooo soft!

Why not tell me? I'd love to use some. If alpaca is so soft, then vacuna must be loverly!!! I'll have to tell my friend to add some vacunas to her alpaca stock. Maybe a musk ox, too.

Why not tell me?

More for momwolf if you don't find out? ;) :roflhard: :roflhard: Course, it looks like the cat's out of the bag now. ;)

I wish I had connections like that!!!! I'd love to try my hand at some of that yarn. Enjoy it!! (and make sure you post the porn when you get it)

I think you're going to have a lot of new "friends" popping up. You just won the knitting lottery. :notworthy:

Do you need a new best friend? Does it count that my DH was born in St. Cloud?
