Well, I've read about ya'll raving about Malabrigo so often and wanted to buy some, but for some UNKNOWN reason I had not...until a few moments ago! I purchased a hank from the store Cheryl (Kemp) referred me to, Lambikins.com. I got the "sealing wax" colorway..so yummilicious! I have a scarf design swimming about in my brain and this is going to be perfect :cheering:

I would like to thank all of you enablers, thank you very much :happydance: :happydance:

Use your Addis when you knit with it. It is a divine knitting experience!

Exciting! Show us pics when it gets here!

Don't you wish they had that whole tactile computer screen thing figured out? Wouldn't that be great for yarn sites? (and cuteoverload.com?)

You know, Angelia, I very rarely pick up my addis anymore, unless I'm doing 2 circ knitting, I'm an Options girl!

My shipping was $4.oo, priority mail, I didn't change it, by the way. AS a matter of fact, the site said shipping was going to be one dollar, then I was charged the $4...whatever, at least it will be here sooner :cheering: I'm so excited :cheering: :cheering: LOL, I told Lonnie that I wasn't going to touch our vacation paypal money again for yarn...LOL, he just kinda  looked at me as if he didn't believe me  Can you believe?! :roflhard:

:cheering: You won't be sorry! Malabrigo is divine! I was drooling over the "Sealing Wax" colorway just recently. So pretty!

The Mmmmmmmmalabrigo I ordered for my Lucy bag arrived today -- 3 hanks in the "Stonechat" colorway. The photo totally doesn't do it justice -- I couldn't capture the depth or intensity of the colors -- but trust me, it's beeeyoutiful!!

Well, ok, since all the cool kids are doing it.... :D

Seriously, after I read this thread, I was checking them out on eBay...even picked out 2 colors I liked and everything! But for once, I actually stopped myself. Maybe I can drop hints everywhere to my eventual pal for SP9!

That is just a gorgeous color! That is on my 'next to buy without a project for' list! Where does everyone get theirs from?

Oh, I so want to succumb and buy some too. Do I really need to pay my bills? :teehee:

I'm very proud of me, I only ordered 1 hank! I'm kinda trying to decrease my online yarn purchases because we are saving for our Christmas vacay, on which I ... buy yarn!

I am very happy with Lambikins, I ordered the yarn yesterday, it was shipped yesterday! Unlike KnitPicks, I ordered 5 (or 6?) skeins of Andean Silk on the 4th, and it wasn't shipped until the 8th...and, it now sits in one of those mysterious "sortation centers," I'm sure!

Oh dear....I never should have gone over to ebay....I must resist, I must! :teehee:

What, there's malabrigo on ebay?! I'm not even gonna look! I'm so bummed now because KnitPicks is having a sale on summer yarns and I had to go and say I wasn't gonna buy anymore yarn online til after Christmas :pout:

Does you not buying yarn online include LONNIE not buying yarn online?

I got mine from Yarnzilla (http://www.yarnzilla.com). Their price is okay ($11.95), and they charge a $5.00 flat rate for shipping, BUT they have an amazing selection of colors -- the most I've seen anywhere online. Which is a good thing, unless you're trying NOT to buy a lot of yarn.

IndianPrincess -- wow! an afghan made from Malabrigo? Just the thought makes me swoon! The Stonechat colorway is sooo pretty -- I wish I could just wrap myself up in it!

LOL, yeah, I'm sorry to say, we've "both" decided to save for vacation! But, honestly, that could change, more on his part than mine!

I've also succumbed. So I controlled myself for only 2 days. I blame it on being in class from 8-4 today and also on the Malabrigo yarn porn on here.

BUT, I bought just 1 hank ("Little Lovely" - love the name!) even though I wanted more. It's a good thing I didn't check out Yarnzilla until now....I saw about 7 or so colors there that I would probably like!

Woohoo!! Yummy mMm on the way!!! :woot:

Yay Cindy!!!!!! What are you going to make?

CindyH
09-09-2006, 09:34 PM
I really how the colors look in stockinette, so I think I might make a hat with it. If not that, then a scarf.

How do you care for Malabrigo? Let's say I make a sweater with Malabrigo and I love the touch of it so much so I wear it all the time, then I will have to handwash it a lot? Does it shrink?

Scathach
09-12-2006, 09:01 AM
yeah you have to hand wash Malabrigo, I haven't had any shrinkage in the pieces i have handwashed. But make sure you invest in a sweater stone because Malabrigo pills pretty badly, I personally don't care because the softness is worth it :)

Oh geez, just what I need, to be reminded how much I want to buy this yarn. I just spent $86 down at Seaport yarns (here in NYC) and I got two HUGE skeins of Peruvian tweed baby alpaca (28.50 per skein but 600+ yards) but I STILL WANT SOME MALABRIGO! The colors you'all are showing are so gorgeous.... ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'll just go take a peek again.....

Oh, Becka, that is a gorgeous colorway!! So, how do you like the feel of it?!

rebecca
09-12-2006, 11:15 AM
OMGoodness, the feel of it is SPECTACULAR! I almost slept with it against my face :roflhard:  It has made me eat my words! I am currently finishing up a scarf and I have a pair of socks OTN, these are left over from my trying to knit with multiple projects OTN, I said I would try it out...I don't like it! I said I was going to finish these 2 projects, then go back to my monogamous knitting life! I'm eating my words because I MUST knit a quick scarf (designed it last night!) with this Mmmmmm. Then, I gotta have MORE!!! LOL, like I didn't just place 2 orders at KnitPicks and this Mmmm last week :teehee: I'm hopeless :teehee:

I felt the same way after I got my first hank of Mmmmmmm.

Be warned! Malabrigo is highly, highly addictive.
