has anyone knitted the Blue Sky Alpacas Sweater Sock pattern? I'm not so new to knitting, but my half cable is coming out sooooo ugly. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong? Or any suggestions on an alternative way to do a 3 stitch cable pattern. THANKS!!!!

Is it a travelling cable where you put the stitches on a cable needle and purl one from the back? Or an uneven cable?

the Half Cable pattern reads:

Rnd 1: *P1, k3, p1, k into back of 2nd st, k first st, sl both sts off needle, k1
Rnd 2 and all even rnds: *P1, k3; rep from * around
Rnd 3: *P1, k3, p1, k1, k into back of 2nd st, k first st, sl both sts off needle
Rnd 5: P1, k3, p1, k1, k into front of 2nd st, k first st, sl both sts off needle
Rnd 7: *P1, k3, p1, k into front of 2nd st, k first st, sl both sts off needle, k1

One other question...when I knit into the back of the 2nd stitch, do I take my right needle BEHIND the left to knit or do I keep it in FRONT to knit? Does it make a difference?

Thanks for your help!!!

Yes, it does make a difference. You're doing right and left twists.

k into back of 2nd st, k first st This is a left twist, where you knit into the back loop of the second stitch, then the front loop of the first stitch.

k into front of 2nd st, k first st This is a right twist, where you knit into the fronts of both stitches, second stitch, then first.

So, should I take the right needle behind the left to knit into the back of the 2nd stitch???

Thanks Ingrid - you're the best!!!!
