View Full Version : help? gusset on One Skein clutch?

So I just finished seaming up the bottom on the felted clutch from One Skein. I don't quite understand how to go about doing the gussets to shape the bag!

"Turn bag inside out, lay flat, and with yarn threaded on needle, sew short diagonal seam about 1" in from each corner to shape lower corners of bag"

Apparently in the Techniques section of the book it explains how to do this, but I already returned the book to the library!

My guess is that you're drawing sort of a right triangle on each side of the bag. Lay your bag out flat and picture this: If you make "L" shapes with your index finger and thumb (a backwards L on your right hand), you'd be sewing a seam from the tip of your index finger to the tip of your thumb.

when I pictured it I thought it meant sewing a line inwards from the corner... kind of like this:

not a good illustration, but you know what I'm getting at!

I think you've got the right idea, only it's more like:

ETA: my illustration didn't work the first time.
