There are lots of places that we all love, including any of the ones that are in the banner ads on this site. Is there a specific type of yarn you are looking for?

sturdy - durable? if so, look for nylon or acylic (correct me if I am wrong)
soft - some of them can be really soft, like lionsbrand baby soft? or Paton carmen?

I like using Cascade 220 or Lamb's pride worsted. These are also good yarns for felting projects.

These people are very nice. I've been in the store and also got great sales. The owner puts up new yarn on sale all the time so it's worth checking back.

The other shop that's great, well in person esp, but she is just so nice if you can't go in, you should consider buying from her... is Seaport Yarns.
A great lady with the most amazing amount of merchandise you ever saw.

that website is: http://www.seaportyarn.com/

Those are two of my favorites for online. In person (NYC) I also like
the new shop The Point.
