View Full Version : 13+2?

I'm wanting to do a scarf using a pattern out of 365 knitting stitches, I think it's called, anyway it says pattern is worked in 13 +2 stitches. Does this mean the pattern stitches are 13 and they've worked 2 in between to seperate it? So if I cast on 40 I could garter 5 then work the pattern twice and garter 5 for a nice edge?

Actually, it means the pattern can be worked over a multiple of 13 plus two. So, if you want the pattern to repeat say 3 times across, you need to have at least 39 plus 2 (41) and then add on the 5 garter on each end for your border...so 51..
Make sense?

Glad I asked, i'd been really lost, thanks. I'm still kinda confused, but I'll figure it out, trial and error.
