View Full Version : My second pair of socks.

I bought Knitpicks Parade in Tropical on close out for these socks. However the yarn is actually sport weight not fingering sock weight as orignially listed. So they sent an advisement to knit on size 3-5 needles. Well I didn't have size 3-5 DPN's and I had just read something about making sokcs sturdier by knitting on somewhat smaller needles than recommended. I also had two sets of size 1 DPN's on hand, the plan being to go back an forth on the socks so they would end up more identical and get done at the same time for the most part. So thusly I knitted these on size 1 needles and it used up all the yarn and I actually had to get once more skein to finish out the toes- thankfully it was still available.

These are warm sturdy socks, they will be just fine on a cold day with cheerful summer colors. I think these are better socks than my first pair. I followed directions from Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch, I did a garter rib pattern down the front. The striping doesn't really show this off but it makes for an interesting texture.
