I love knitting hats and would like to make some as adult christmas gifts but cannot find a pattern that I think will be universally liked....anyone have a favorite to share? I like rolled brim hats and know I can vary the yarn and color, but really want these to be special.

thank you

I'm not sure where you have searched, but try these sites.

Knitting Pattern Central - hats (http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/hats.php)
The Daily Knitter - hats (http://www.dailyknitter.com/patternsdetail.php?type=HA)

Why not try the basic hat pattern and use a lovely yarn?

I am making a few hats for gifts and am using this pattern

http://www.mielkesfarm.com/bsic_hat.htm

only I decrease differently.. I decrease K8, K2tog for a round, then K a round, then K7 K2tog for a round, then K a round etc...

I usually make about 1.5 inches of ribbing in K2, P2 and I have made a couple of hats in Patons SWS... they have turned out gorgeous. I will post a pic of my husbands hat later today.

Just a thought for simple knitting but a lovely hat!

There's a pattern called "kim's hats" in "last minute knitted gifts" Very unisex, very basic, but very personalizable as well.
