hey all, i am finishing this patter: http://www.coatsandclark.com/Crafts/Knitting/Projects/AfghansThrows/LW1343+Lapghans.htm

It is the knitting version of course. Basically it consitsts of a P1K1 stich and then a full knitted row repeated over and over again with 3 differnt collors. 5 strips are made and sew together. I am trying to sew them up. I am using the mattres seaming technique right now but it doesnt look right. The outside stich sorta looks like it would be fine as a mattress stitch. I am hoping to amke an invisible seam that would make this blanket look continous. but the seam ive made so far looks really obvious and out of place.

Is there a better technique i shoudl be doing for this pattern?

Mattress does leave a seam on one side--try edge-to-edge (http://www.knitting.co.nz/site/page_affix/toaffix_learntoknit13/) seaming. It might work better for you.

well the thing about my pattern is that the edge stitch is a purl, so can i do that edge to edge stich on a purl?

I think it's the only technique that won't leave a seam, even if you were to crochet them together. I think if you sew into the purl bumps it will work the same as sewing into the knit stitches.

ok thanks, i will try that out. Should i flip the pattern over to the reverse side when doing it? Cause the front side has the purled Vs but the reverse side looks mostly like knit stitches.

You can absolutely do that.

ok ive been trying to do the edge to edge stitch, but for some reason the rows never line up to each other. Once i start, i can obviously see that one side has one row sticking out than the other side. I am having to stich in a completely new thread. I also still think that my pattern is effecting this, because i am joining a k1p1 stich with the purls on the outside.
