Okay! YouTube is officially evil. I've been sucked in, and am now contemplating my first feature. Seriously.

I have decided, in honor of you all, that it should be a stop-animation, 50's style B-horror film featuring knitted monsters.

Where y'all come in: I need suggestions for good pairings for knitted monsters, and pattern links if you know where they exist.

Meanwhile, I'm going to try to see if I can find a still photo of Mothra.
Talk amongst yourselves.

Pocket creatures (http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTpocketcreatures.html) on knitty would be really cute. Maybe you could make them look a bit more... evil?

Also, check here (http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/toys.php) and here (http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/miscellaneous.php).

-EDIT-
Looking at one of the links above, I just found this (http://www.thedietdiary.com/blog/lucia/523) and this (http://lunastrixae.blogspot.com/2006/01/fsm-sighted.html).

You are AWESOME. Two FSM patterns to choose from, AND a Brain Slug! Now if I could just find that Cthulhu pattern again...

I might need an army of Brain Slugs to go against Cthulhu...

Yeah I remembered about the FSM right after I posted it. I think they'd be good because you could attatch something to the arms(maybe fishing line since it's clear? ) to make them move?

The brain slug is so cute!

Cthulhu? :??

I'll do what I can, but I have a Pastafarian grad student who needs an idol to worship.

I registered just to post in this thread!!

Could someone let me know how the cast on and circle for the Brain slug goes: i have been using words i didn't know I knew trying to get this thing started..

I've tryed DPNs and Magic Loop: I'm going to try wooden needles next. My cast ons all squirt off the needles, and the Magic Loop looks like the dog's breakfast.

PLEASE and Thanks!!

Doesn't everybody's dog eat breakfast? :waving:

My dog usually tries to eat MY breakfast. :pout: That said, there are few things funnier in the world than a 50lb beagle mix with doughnut powder on his nose. I wish I had taken a pic of him that morning.

Okay - pattern challenge #2: Anyone know if some enterprising knitter has already come up with a convincing knitted kaiju? Famous names include Godzilla, Gamera, Mothra, & etc.

(btw, welcome, knewbie!)

No, but your movie needs zombies.

And some improbable historical figure as a hero. (Like the comic I read once, where a time-traveling Teddy Roosevelt and the ghost of Thomas Edison fight the forces of Fascism!)

I wonder if CateKnits would allow us the use of the Knitted Nietzsche or Aristotle?

Must PM her for pattern....

oh, and thanks to Jenelle, zombies I've got covered. I'm just going to knit these lil' buggers (http://www.modeknit.com/blog/2005/09/i-can-make-you-man.html) by Modesitt in a strange green yarn.

There are some creepy "doll" patterns on knittingpatterncentral.com, too. I'm too lazy to find specifics, though.

OOH OOOH OOOOOH! Monster Veggies!! (http://www.monstercrochet.com/VLA.html)

Perfect!! They're crocheted instead of knit, but that's no big - I've been crocheting for over 20 years.

They're perfectly eeeevil. *mad scientist laughter*
