[sorry for the pun]
It's Michaels yarn sale week, and I've seen some nice cotton for the price of a couple candy bars. The problem is that it's all in baby colors - great for babies, but I'm not the pastel type. So: can you dye cotton?

Not with Kool-Aid, you can't. Believe me I've tried....I wanted to prove "them" wrong (you know, those people who said you couldn't do it  ). Here's a product (http://www.dharmatrading.com/html/eng/3246-AA.shtml?lnav=dyes.html) that you can use for dying cotton. I've not tried it and I don't know if it's readily available or if it's something you have to order, but yes it is possible.

Yup, you need fiber reactive dyes and the accompanying chemicals to dye cotton. I've done it, but it wasn't very fun....it took hours and hours for the dye to take, and it took three days of lying out in the blazing sun for my yarn to dry. I'm a big fan of instant gratification, so I'll stick with dyeing wool. ;)
