View Full Version : Hourglass sweater

I've knitted my first full size sweater! The hourglass sweater from "Last-minute knitted gifts". I made it in dark blue acrylic/wool yarn. Since I've read that so many people thought the neck was too wide I did 4 more decrease rounds than what the pattern said. So now I think the neck is too narrow and too high up instead...Well...everything can't be perfect...
Tell me what you think!

I think it looks great, and it's high enough that you don't need to wear anything under it. My neck or chest get chilly if the sweater doesn't come up high enough.

Wow, I am definitely going to have to check that pattern out. It looks great on you - very flattering! I love the color! What yarn did you use? And I don't think the neck is too high.

The neck is higher than the original pattern, but many people did more rounds to raise it so it wouldn't be falling off them. If I actually follow the pattern for this one, that's what I'd do too.

The fit is very nice, I think. I agree that it's high enough that you don't need a collared shirt underneath it. You did a great job, amazing for your first sweater.

The fit is perfect and I actually like it with a collared shirt the way you're wearing it in the photo.

Great job! :cheering:

(I really want to knit this...but then, what else is new?)

Thanks for all your nice comments! :D

The yarn is a swedish yarn called Lasse-Maja, 70% acrylic and 30% wool. It was reasonably cheap so that if I had messed the sweater up atleast I wouldn't feel bad about messing up expensive yarn...

I actually even managed to block it some, even though it's acrylic, but perhaps that disappears in the next wash...

Looks good. I'm using mmmmmmmmmmalabrigo for the hourglass sweater but I keep messing up. I think you ahve the right idea to use a cheaper yarn. I think I may just rip it all out and use something else. I like your collar too. Not too high. Was it hard getting yer head through it or something?

No, no problem at all. I just don't like sweaters that go high up. I keep pulling them down with my hand. I can't wear turtlenecks and such. Don't know how to explain, it just feels weird somehow. :D
