Daughter dear is planning on wearing a satin skirt with a dressy sweater to prom this year. Does anyone know of a simple sweater pattern with maybe some bead embellishment that I could make for her? Would prefer sleevless ane want it to be very elegant. Thanks.

I'm sorry, I can't think of one off of the top of my head, but I will be on the lookout.

There's the Evening Tank at Webs:

You might make it in silk, or a yarn with a slight mohair sheen, or maybe have a thin strand of silk held together with a thin yarn that has a bit of sparkle, like Rowan Lurex.

Maybe she could even have a matching Anthropologie-Inspired capelet to cover her shoulders if she gets chilly. I was at my lys the other day and she was telling me that since I brought mine in (made with some off white mohair blend with silver and gold metallic) that she's had two brides-to-be make ones for themselves.

That's perfect! I thought about the capelet, too. Thanks so much!

I adore the Grace Notes section in the new Vogue Holiday knitting magazine:

The one on the left would look beautiful with a satin skirt, I think. She would need to wear something under it, obviously. The model is showing it with just a bra, but for a high school student, I would think something more along the lines of a plain white spaghetti strap tank top would be better.

OOOooohhh! I love that. And you're right about the spaghetti strap tank under it. I will show that to her and see what she thinks.
