View Full Version : Help finding sock yarn!

I'm having trouble finding a specific kind of sock yarn that I need for an upcoming project. I need the yarn to be cotton, with elastic for stretch, but most importantly I need the yarn to be fingering weight. Cascade fixation fits my needs, but it's just too thick! Any suggestions on a cotton/eastic fingering weight sock yarn, hopefully in black?
Thanks for your help!
Well, the closest I could find is this http://www.elann.com/productdisp.asp?NAME=elann%2Ecom+Esprit&Season=&Company=&Cat=ALLY&ProductType=5&OrderBy=&Count=28

Skacel Fortissima Cotton is 75% Cotton, 25% nylon. It can be a little hard to find,
but when you find it, it's cheap because it's discontinued. :D

What pattern are you using that calls for cotton to make socks? The person that taught me to knit said you dont want to use cotton for socks because it stretches. I have alot of pretty cotton and cotton blends sitting around; would be nice if I could use it for socks!

Here is a Yarndex search for "cotton" and "fingering" weight yarns. You'll probably have to refine it a bit more browsing to find the exact blend you are looking for.
