View Full Version : A good hat for a non-hat person?

I am always on the hunt for a decent hat at this time of year. And every year I fail to find one. Store bought hats are always too big so I definately need to make one. I don't think I look decent in hats. I can't stand tight hats that flatten my hair. Any ideas on a good pattern?

I know nobody wants to "waste" their knitting time but maybe you could try some hats that trip your trigger and if you find after you have made them that they just aren't the right one you could donate them? I love making hats but so few of them work right for me...I have a bag of them waiting to got to the shelter this year because i just can't stop making them and so few of them work for me.

I know that doesn't give you any answers ...but you know people are just going to send you to KPC.com again! ;) :teehee:

I'm not a hat person either, but I just bought yarn today for Odessa (http://www.magknits.com/feb06/patterns/odessa.htm) for myself. I bought super soft yarn, and the pattern is pretty, so I hope those two things in themselves will make me wear it once finished! :teehee:

I know...I've searched it a dozen times....I am even willing to pay for a pattern... I think the truth is...there ISN"T a hat I will wear...I just need to come to terms with it.

I don't wear hats because I hate hat hair, but I love making them. I haven't found one yet that doesn't flatten your hair. There are some cute ones out there though. Did you see this one that Julie designed? I made it for my niece and it's so cute!

I love hats! I have a tiny head, so making hats is actually a good thing for me. I regularly check out the book "Hip Knit Hats" from the library. I brought my supplies to work today, so I can start this headband during my lunch. Maybe a headband would be more useful for you? Or a cowl that you can pull up over your head if necessary?

If you don't wear hats, maybe you could make a scarf-type thing that can go over your head.
