View Full Version : Pilling on Sweaters

I am inspired to make an Aran sweater. I would like to make it in wool but I know most of them tend to pill. Do they keep pilling forever until you have sweater stoned them away or do they eventually not pill as much after you use a sweater stone on them a few times?

I read somewhere that it'll stop pilling once all the loose fibers work their way out, but I don't know that for a fact. Makes sense, though.

According to the sweater stone people (and the KP catalogue ;)), the stoning () takes away the loose fibers that cause the pilling, which means far less pilling in future than if you were to pick them off. I don't know how true that is, though.

I've heard, though, that the sweater stone actually cuts fibers resulting in MORE pilling. Dunno.
