First off, this is my first post here, so I hope this is an appropriate board for this.

I am working on a hat for a guy friend for Christmas (OK so there's five guys who are all getting hats, but only one is currently an issue). It will be double knit in two slightly different black wools - one is a llama blend and one is merino (I can't wait to start in on that llama wool... **drools**) - so the design will be very subtle. The design itself is what is giving me trouble. I'm trying to find one that is wintry, but masculine... My one Nordic Star design has been designated for a hat for a girl friend, as has my snowflake, which I just can't picture this guy wearing. He doesn't ski, either. I never use the same design for more than one person. Does anyone have favorite designs that they use for guys that they would be willing to share? or websites with some good patterns would be appreciated, too.
Also, I'm just starting on double knitting (my first double knit project is a hat that won't have a design on it), so any advice on this would be appreciated.
