First the non-knitting related news (the OT): I just found out this morning that I'm pregnant!! :cheering: Dh & I started ttc right before our 4 year old ds turned 2 and were stalled for a while due to my thyroid cancer. We got the go-ahead in May (while he was deployed) to start ttc again and we got lucky!! I'm just so excited!!

Now the on-topic stuff: What's your favorite baby knitting stuff? Patterns? Yarn? My fingers are literally itching to get started on some knitting for this little one. :) I know that I'm going to make the baby set that Limey used for her test pattern on the stitch markers, but I want other stuff as well.

:woohoo: that's great!! Congrats!

Oooh. It's gotta be something soft! Baby Alpaca?? Mmmalabrigo?? ok ok, you probably don't want to knit something that warm (or handwash) for a baby due in the summer... ooh! what about Blue Sky Alpaca Organic Cotton (http://www.blueskyalpacas.com/yarn_detail.php?yarns_ID=7)? It's super soft!

Or Dale of Norway's Baby Ull - though this is superwash, it may be too warm since it's merino...

As for patterns - Debbie Bliss has some really cute baby items. So does Anny Blatt (http://www.annyblatt.com/2002/welcome.html) (I'm working on a baby cardigan from one of her books right now in Plymouth Encore) but her pattern books can be hard to get your hands on, and the patterns are a little difficult to follow (but worth it!!)

CONGRATS!!!

It SOOO depends on if you want it machine washable or not.. :D

This is machine washable, but feels like handwashable .. Grignasco Bambini (http://tapestrycraft.com.au/catalog/multi_info.php?cPath=1_363_376&osCsid=243513031b300f5e7c15e7d9e583ae84&multiID=376) It's a 4 ply and utterly DREAMY to work with (also there is a HUGE amount on a 50g ball ~ 246yds)

LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Mind you, your baby will be due in the US summer, so you could also look at lovely cottons...Lana Gatto Minicaraibi (http://www.tapestrycraft.com.au/catalog/multi_info.php?cPath=1_363_475&osCsid=243513031b300f5e7c15e7d9e583ae84&multiID=475). Also a 4 ply, LUSCIOUS cotton...

You've also got your Debbie Bliss & Jo Sharps which are GORGEOUS.. but expensive.. :D

Ooh.. for ultimate baby luxury.. try Alpaca... YUMMM!!!

I had morning sickness and carpal tunnel too badly while I was pregant, so I couldn't knit at all.. :( So get in while you feel okay!!

I've always wanted an excuse to use the Blue Sky so this is it!!! :) I'm off to see if I can find some Debbie Bliss patterns. TY for the suggestion.

I'm sorry I worried you, Limey. :( I emailed you back.

Ohh! The Grignasco Bambini has some beautiful colors. I love it!!

With an *extremely* active 4 yo, I think machine washables would be best. I rarely have time to do a load of laundry during the day as it is. lol In fact, all of my housecleaning is done after his bedtime - otherwise nothing would get done.

Congratulations!

There are so many nice baby yarns! I don't have a baby to knit for, but I've used Bernat Softee Baby (http://www.bernat.com/product.php?LGC=softeebaby&SPP=999) a lot and love it! It's soooo soft and comes in pretty colors. Caron Simply Soft regular and brites have lots of pretty colors and is soft, too.

I started a bib. It's just a simple square one done out of cotton with a little "flap" at the top which will attach around baby's neck and onto a button. Basically it feels as though I'm making a washcloth. lol I have found 10 or 12 different things I want to make, but most of them depend on whether it's a boy or girl.

First of all... CONGRATULATIONS! :cheering:

I'm currenly making this diagonal baby blanket (http://www.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/patternView.fcgi?60241=1&pdf=1&itemKey=1922240504) for a guy I work with, as his gf is pregnant... it's pretty simple.. Other than that, I haven't tried any other baby stuff, as I don't have kids, and don't really know anyone else having kids, and I just started knitting in January...
