This is a Christmas present for my sister, it was supposed to be a bag but it turned into a purse. Turns out SWS felts awfully fast... (I just read your post SabrinaJ!) At least it did make a nice sturdy fabric. It's loosely based on the booga bag pattern, just with entrelac for the body instead of stockinette stitch.

After felting: (it's about 1/2 - 1/3 the original size)

Your bag came out so nice!!

I made one last year but I did not felt it long enough. Mine is sort of "soft". I don't think I remember how to do it again. I had to take classes to "get it". :wall:

Heh, kinda takes you off guard, doesn't it? I read posts from people who've said they had to run things through a few wash cycles to get it to felt. That's kind of what I was expecting and I didn't watch it as closely as I should have (that was the first time I've felted anything).

I've discovered I like SWS much better unfelted. I think it would make a great booga bag though. I really dig that whole entrelac thing, but it looks too complicated for me.

I know what you mean SabrinaJL! This was my first real felted project and it happened way faster than I thought. Although I do love the texture of this bag, I have to agree with you, I think the SWS is nicer unfelted. Unless of course you're going for industrial-strength fabric, then this is the yarn for you!

Really pretty!

My daughter had a bag turn into a purse using patons. It also felted very quickly!

I just bought some SWS, now I've got an idea for it! How many balls did it take? Do you think it would still be sturdy not felted, maybe with a lining?

I did an entrelac design as well, it's only partway done at the moment :) I love how the SWS just woks out beautifully!

It took me 2.5 balls of SWS. I think if you didn't want to felt it you could put a sturdy lining in it but mine was really stretchy before felted. I also think you could felt it a lot less than I did, just need to leave it in the washer for maybe three minutes. You really have to watch it!
