DH and I would like to enter a contest at our local library for homemade gingerbread houses. We thought doing a theme around our favorite hobbies would make it fun. How can I tuen a plan gingerbread house--gumdrops, kisses, pretzel logs, lifesavers, kisses, etc-- and make it a "yarn store" type house?

Balls of yarn made with licorice string and hard stick candy knitting needles?

Sheep made with cotton candy for the wool (or roving)?

Have you even seen the shows about the competitive championship gingerbread house making? Some of those are amazing! And all edible!

Oh, that sounds so cute! Be sure and share a photo with us.

Could you use various candies or frostings to put knitted items in the house windows for display? Hmm... what about an oreo spinning wheel just outside the door?

I think it does have to be edible.... I dunno, I was all motivated yesterday and today I feel all blahhh about it, so who knows. My mind is a fickle thing.

I saw a pair of eadible underwear knitted out of the licorice shoe strings....you could knit something out of that for the house, but obviously a bit less risque :teehee:
