View Full Version : Knucks pattern question

I posted this question but it got hidden in another thread so here goes --

I looked at the Knucks pattern for fingerless gloves and it is made fingers first.

I was under the impression that most gloves are made from the wrist up.

Is there any advantage to making the fingers first?

Or can I adapt any glove pattern and simply bind off the fingers to make them "fingerless?"

I get the feeling that sometimes on Knitty people write the patterns in different ways just to be different and add a little interest to an otherwise predictable pattern but not necessarily to lessen the difficulty of the pattern.

i haven't made fingered gloves any other way so i can't really tell you of any advantage or disadvantage. i would suppose you could make the gloves and bind off the fingers whenever you want to. i love the knucks pattern because it was super easy. you are doing the whole pattern fingers down though.
