This is what has been keeping me busy lately.

My first sweater, pre-blocking:

And after blocking - a perfect fit! Admittedly more chance than talent.

And even though I said I wasn't going to do any christmas knitting, I changed my mind and knitted a friend a scarf. She loves baby pink, which I'm not too fond of (except on babies), but I like this scarf anyway. It's very fluffy, a mohair mix without the scratchiness. I knitted with two strands, soft pink and ivory white. You can't really see the fluffiness here, but it came out very pretty, very light yet very warm. I think she'll like it! I still need to trim the fringe a bit, then pack it up and send it off.

ooh... nice sweater! Where did you find the pattern? What did you use for yarn?

I like the scarf too. The baby pink looks great.

It's one of the Berroco easy-rated free patterns, called "Doreen". I searched everywhere for a sweater pattern that I actually understood. I worried through the whole thing about picking up the stitches to knit the turtleneck onto it...but it *was* really easy! :happydance:

And I used an italian (I think) yarn called Lana Grossa. It's one of the most common brands here. It's 65% wool and 35% acrylic, but still feels nice. I didn't want to blow alot of money on my first attempt at a sweater.

Congrats! Its beautiful and love the color!

I've been knitting for over a year and still haven't been brave enough to attempt a sweater! But its on my "to do" list. Even have the yarn :teehee:

I haven't taken the sweater plunge yet, either, but I think I will after the holidays. I love both your items. VERY impressive for a newbie, in fact, impressive for anyone. :cheering:

Go for it, you two. I spent quite a bit of time hunting for a sweater pattern that I understood. I did have to ask a few questions here, but they were of course answered very quickly. :muah: I took my time and it was actually very easy.
