I am trying to knit some socks for my mom for Christmas. I would like recommendations on yarn. Something really soft, yet warm, and machine washable (if that is possible) What if your favorite sock yarn and do you know a good online store to buy from?

Koigu sock yarn

I am LOVING Regia sock yarn. It is washable, warm, comfortable and nice ot knit with. I love the colour combinations too - they have crazy colour, self striping and single colours. They also have a variety of types; silk, wool/polyamide mix bamboo/wool mix etc.

Very nice, sturdy sock yarn.
