I recently finished knitting my first pair of socks on DPNs. I bought some KP Options needles to try knitting one sock on 2 circs. Are there any free online resources on how to do this? Or even just sock patterns specifically for this? Thanks!

This podcast (scroll down to the bottom) has some info on socks on 2 circs. I just finished a class to learn how to do this and I love it much better than my DPNs.

Google is a great website where you can search for anything you're interested in: www.google.com

Thanks! I tried using google, but could only find info on how to do 2 socks on circs, when I want to start of just doing 1. I think I will purchase Cat Bordhi's book about this.

I borrowed that book from the library when I first became interested in socks and was disappointed to find that it was mainly just patterns. I'd start with free web resources first. Or get Sensational Knitted Socks. There are instructions for two circs in there, and it's a much better book, overall, both instruction-wise and pattern-wise, IMO.

I have the Sensational Knitted Socks book, and I love it! I am still using DPNs, but I just purchased Cat Bordhi's book for my SIL for Xmas...and I somehow ended up with *2* copies in my cart :teehee: I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I thought I'd need a little more direction than what was offered in Sensational Knitted Socks. However, SKS has a very user friendly layout (directions in tables based on the sock making technique you are using - step by step instructions) and stitch pattern dictionary.

I'm pretty new at sock making, but I can already tell that I'm going to get hooked :-) I really don't mind the DPNs, but it would be nice to be able to try the sock on as you go along. I just read Knitting Rules by Stephanie Purl McFee (Yarn Harlot), and she has a great section on socks. I'd love to get to the point that she describes, where you don't really need a pattern anymore...someday!

All I did before knitting socks on 2 circs was watch Amy's video on 2-circ knitting. I was using Silver's Sock Class and realized pretty quickly that all I had to do was divide the stitches in half -- the heel is worked on half the stitches so no shuffling around on and off other needles once you get to that point. The only tricky part was rearranging the stitches after picking up the gusset stitches...but a few markers took care of that.

Try it. You'll like it.

Imagine! No more figuring out how many heel stitches on which needle!

Easy to pick up the whole shebang and stuff it in the knitting bag... and away you go! :balloons:

Thanks everyone! :muah: I've asked my MIL for both Sensational Knitted Socks and Knitting Rules for Christmas so hopefully I get them! If not, my LYS is having a 20% everything sale after Christmas so maybe I can splurge!

Ignore my earlier post. I misread your question. Sorry!
