Has anyone taken a trip to anywhere in the Caribbean? My husband and I are planning a trip for next year, but we have no idea where to go. My husband wants to try snorkling and parasailing. We both would like a place with nightly entertainment, but we both don't enjoy going to clubs or drinking all night. We have lots of travel books, but it still seems hard to pick a place.

Go on a Cruise!!! You get to see a bunch of different islands and you only unpack once. I have been to St. Thomas directly twice and it is a great island to use as a "hopping" off point. We have taken a ferry to St. John which has an underwater snorkeling park at Trunk Bay. Also took an excursion this past December to Tortola which included snorkeling.

The cruises are great an they have excursions you can book with your cruise and are not terribly expensive. We are going on a 10 day cruise in March leaving from San Juan, PR. The stops include Tortola, BVI; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Bridgetown, Barbados; St. Georges, Grenada too name a few. We have other stops and a couple of days at sea. The food is usually included in the cost of the cruise and is wonderful. The drinks are usually not included. I think most ships have casinos and nightclubs along with martini bars of some sort, or you can just wander around the boat as we did. (I am not a better and did not like the casino or the loud music in the nightclub) We have had a blast and if you don't feel like touring an island stop, you can just soak up some sun at the pool or book a spa day.

Enjoy and feel free to pm if you have specific questions.

We spent a week in St. Johns and it was wonderful. We went to a different beach every day (sometimes more than one in a day) and still did not make it to them all.

I would love to go back. It is quite pricey though. St. Johns does not have an airport so everything is brought in by boat. I think it is actually cheaper to eat out than go to the grocery store.

I went to Barbados about 10 years ago and it was WONDERFUL. Loved every minute.

We did the cruise thing for our honeymoon. It probably is usually really great but we must have had a really bad travel agent. We got stuck on what I am sure was the senior cruise ship. I was 21 at the time and I remember some of the entertainment being a polka band and a comedien who everyone else thought was funny, but me and my husband were not laughing. Wandaweberg where in Jamaica did you go? I was looking at montego bay, but I am not sure? I will look in my book for St. Thomas I'm not even sure if we looked at that. Thank you everyone for your suggestions. It's always better to hear everyones experience first hand rather than reading something in a book.

Montego Bay (MoBay) is nice BUT for a truly wonderful beach experience I would recommend Negril. You can walk the entire 7 mile beach. There are resorts right on the beach or across the street - or on the cliffs - a short taxi ride from beach. Usually, if staying on the cliffs you can snorkle right from your resort. There are also men in boats who will take you out for a few hours to different locations. For me details feel free to PM me.

I went to 3 islands on my cruise and I had planned to return to St. Martin last Nov. My bf and I were to go, we had to cancel 2 days before :verysad:

I liked that much better than either Nassua, Bahamas or St. Thomas.

But really I'm sure all are great, as far as WARM water and WARM weather. You will love it there. :cheering: :notworthy:

I highly recommend Cozumel, Mexico. The snorkeling there was fabulous!!! The water was clear and the reefs were beautiful and filled with incredible fish. There is some night life, but it isn't a wild and crazy spring break kind of place. We felt completely safe the entire time and had a lot of fun. If you go snorkeling, I recommend Palancar reef trip from Playa Palancar (a beach on the island). We stayed at Villa de las Anclas and it was wonderful. Pedro and Ayel are the nicest hosts and so helpful. Got to Travel Advisor website and check out the reviews for this hotel.

Whatever you choose, I am sure you'll have fun. Best regards!
