OK, here's my first sweater...........Cute, fast and easy!

Peanut (note: eating a sweetgum ball, that's why he looks funny). These are the best shots I could get of the wild man. I call him a Klingon!:

Adorable dog, and beautiful sweater. What yarn did you use?

Arielluria
02-03-2007, 12:44 AM
The yarn for body and neck are same, Red Heart Supersaver skeins from Walmart. Body is the type with about 4 different colors on it. I ran out of yarn after I started the neck so I used a color I had that matched one of the colors in the variegated yarn and I thought it turned out great.

I came in a box with a set of wooden size 9 needles with cute little dogs at the top........... :teehee: I bought it at the discount aisle in Barnes & Noble for $10, and you can get it on their site too. Posh Pooches Set (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbninquiry.asp?r=1&ean=9780760773130)

This pattern is the first and easiest one, named "Basic Sweater". There are tons of other adorable ones: a hoodie, a polo shirt, and an ADORABLE knit dress with ribbon that ties in the back, as well as an argyle, I think I'll try that next.

That is so sweet (the dog and the sweater)!!!
I've always thought that sweaters for dogs (other than gray hounds and whippets) were redundant but my beagle Lily hates to be cold so I'm thinking of knitting her a sweater and maybe some booties. Thanks for the posting.

For all you dog sweater lovers, check out this week's free Vogue Knitting pattern, with, OF COURSE, a Shih Tzu modelling it (or it might be a Lhasa), NOT that I'm at all biased......

Your pups are all SOOO cute in their sweaters! We have a 3 month old Vizsla, which is a short-haired pointer, and I've been told they really don't like to be cold. So I guess I'll be knitting a dog sweater or two eventually. As a new knitter, I think it would be better to try a doggie sweater before a human one, but the problem is that he's going to grow so much! I may have to knit several sizes to get him through this winter, lol!

Oh gosh! Those dogs of yours are too too too cute! I like the sweaters!

Do you keep the dogs in summer cuts all year 'round? Is that why they have the little coats?

ADORABLE!!!

I need to make my little guy a sweater this fall, he has out grown all his old ones. I've been so busy with baby knitting I haven't gotten around to it!!!

Do you keep the dogs in summer cuts all year 'round? Is that why they have the little coats?Pretty much since I'm in the South. Don't much need the sweaters down here really, but I don't have babies, so (like Daphne on Frasier said)......let me dress up the dog(s) :teehee:

Most of the ones you see here were the same pattern: posts 1, 28, 29, 58 are from Kim Hamlin's book Posh Pooches (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/posh-pooches), her 'Basic Dog Sweater', knit in 2 pieces. Even as a beginner, each only took me about 2 days.
