View Full Version : Tip for neat edge?

I had heard that slipping the first stitch of every row purl-wise would lend for a nice, neat edge, but I just heard another method--knitting into the back of the first stitch. Is this true? Can I use the latter method? The only thing I don't really like about the slipping the first stitch purl-wise is that it leaves a slight hole.

i usually knit the 1st stitch normally, and before knitting the 2nd stitch, i pull the working yarn tight.

I've been pulling that first stitch extra tight and it definitely works for me.

I usually slip the first stitch and knit the last. I think you have to give different ways a try to find what look you like best.

I pull the first stitch tight too. It's easy, and it looks nice!

Another way to do a slip stitch edge is slip the last stitch in the row pw with the yarn in front, then knit the first stitch on the next row. I saw that in a pattern and it works as well as slipping the first stitch.
