Anyone know, very roughly, how many yards of a worsted weight wool (Malabrigo specifically) it takes to make a basic hat? I recently made Coronet (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter03/PATTcoronet.html) and I'd like to know how much of the original 215ish yds is left.

I'd like to see if I can squeeze some peekaboo mittens out of the leftover, but I might need to plan on some color accents or something with a different yarn if I don't have enough.

I suggest look at some hat patterns that you want to make and see how much it takes.

Personally, I'd weigh the hat, then weigh the leftover yarn -- i.e. if the hat weighs 60g, then you have 40g left, roughly 86 yards. :D

Hmmm, my reference Handy Guide to Yarn Requirements) says that an adult small hat would take 152-192 yds, but coronet would take more because of the cable.
