View Full Version : Colinette Mohair needle size ???

So my LYS had a sale last weekend and I couldn't resist. I have in mind a simple shawl but was wondering if anyone had used this? It calls for a size 8 or 9 needle, but I want a lacy style. Should I just go big and do garter or maybe something with YO and K2TOG? Where should I start with needle size?

The yarn description suggests a 5.5mm or US size 9 needle. A yarn having that much mohair would generally be considered at least a worsted weight (16-20 sts over 4 inches). No reason why you couldn't try a simple lacy pattern; I think it would look lovely! :cheering: And you'd get the full effect of the "halo" of the mohair.

Good Luck

I think you could try anything from a size 11 up to a 15 and get a nice lacy effect with your yarn.

I like using large needles (although I haven't in a while) but find that anything over a 15 is uncomfortable to work with.

Hope this helps!
