View Full Version : Bulky Yarn Vest Pattern Ideas

I did some searching on this forum to try and find a pattern to go with my big baby yarn - I don't want to make a scarf, blanket or baby item with it. I was thinking that a nice open front vest for myself (no pullovers they just don't work for me) would work. I did look through patterncentral, freepatterns.com, dailyknitter, but nothing really calling me to knit it. Maybe someone has an idea of where to look I haven't thought of yet. I have seen several I really like but the yarn weight isn't the same and I am not sure about trying to adjust it. Always willing to learn... :teehee:

If it's a bulky or super-bulky weight yarn you could try "Invested" from the new Magknits (http://www.magknits.com/Feb07/patterns/invested.htm)...it's a zippered outerwear style vest. (I'm not sure what kind of vest you're looking for)

Thanks for the links Even if I don't use them for the Big Baby yarn I am sure I could find yarn for several of those sytles! 8)

I checked the band on my Big Baby Yarn and it says I need size 13 or 15 needles, with a gauge of 2.5. Mainly what I looking for is I something that is not a pull over type vest, rather something with buttons, zipper, or just open...not really fancy just something to wear with jean or nice pants or skirt.

Update: I was able to find a few patterns that I liked. One vest (http://www.carodanfarm.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/product677.html) and a short sleeve jacket (http://www.anniesattic.com/detail.html?prod_id=19702). Plus I got a couple of other patterns that I liked to use in the future. :happydance:

Thanks Again!
