I just recently got the book "450 Knitting Stitches Vol. 2" and want to try this lace pattern. Before the directions, it says this:
"Multiple of 6+1".
What does that mean? I feel so silly!!!

well it is 6 times whatever plus 1. So 6x5=30+1=31 or 6x6=36+1=37 etc

So....Does that mean to do the pattern five times I'd need to cast-on 31?

Thats exactly what it means. If you find yourself lost on patterns, find someone to read it outloud to you while you actually do the steps.
