I re-started with my sweater for DS and i'm trying to work on this raglan sweater pattern. My stitches are not decreasing correctly so i'm wondering if i'm doing it wrong or if there is a flaw in the pattern.

the pattern:
(61 sts on needle)
- Armhole shaping. Cast off 3 sts at beginning of next 2 rows.
- Dec 1 st at armhole end(s) of every 3rd row 8 times.
- Then Dec 1 st at armhole end(s) of every 2nd row 5 times.
(33 sts remaining)

So my problem...Is 33 sts remaining right? Because if i start with 61 sts, work the pattern like it says, i keep ending up with 29 sts.

61sts on needleMINUS a total of 6sts for the Cast off 3 sts at beginning of next 2 rows MINUS a total of 16sts for the Dec 1 st at armhole end(s) of every 3rd row 8 times MINUS a total of 10 sts for the Dec 1 st at armhole end(s) of every 2nd row 5 times I end up with 29 sts

I dunno maybe i'm doing the decreases all wrong :wall: Can somone PLEASE HELP I'm right about to pull my hair out with this :hair:

THANKS

Your math seems to be right; patterns have been known to have typos in them.... If you need to have 33 stitches to finish the pattern, leave off one set of decreases.

I was wonderng what was going on :?? This was my first time (other than the clogs :teehee: ) to try and follow a pattern 100% as it was written because i usually tweek the pattern somwhere to my personally liking. Oh well i guess this will be yet another tweeked pattern  . Thanks for your help suzeeq. I'll leave off 2 sets of dec that way i end up with the 33 stitches. :waving:
