View Full Version : Mosaic Knitting?

I just took a class at my LYS that taught me Mosaic Knitting, Fair Isle and Intarsia. I'm excited to try all but am having a hard time finding mosaic patterns. There are 2 hats on Knitty that I don't like. And some sweaters that weren't my style. What have you made with Mosaic knitting?

It's also known as "slip stitch knitting" so look for that term, too. I haven't knit anything yet, but I have a couple books on my wishlist.
Slip Stitch Knitting (http://www.amazon.com/Slip-Stitch-Knitting-Color-Pattern-Easy/dp/1883010322/ref=si3_rdr_bb_product/102-3177256-7597741)
No patterns in this book, but it looks like a great resourse.

I made this bag (http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring05/PATTviadiagonale.html) in dark grey and silver and then felted it.
the shape went a little sideways, but it's still really cute. and sturdy!

Jan - I really want the Mosaic Knitting book. It's on my wishlist as well! But I'm on a book diet right now!
I'm kinda looking for free patterns (aren't we all) or even ideas on what people have done!
syndactylus - Thank you! I didn't see that pattern on Knitty. Maybe I'll try that one. Thanks!
Has anyone else made anything Mosaic?

I've posted a couple of links below - the first one is an online tutorial to get people started.
I did 10 rows of mosaic knitting, using three different colours, after the ribbing on a toddler's jumper - looks cute.
I've found complimentary shades or pastel colours don't show up quite as well as they should - so I'd go for stronger colour contrasts to highlight.
There are quite a few sites on this subject - just Google Mosaic Knitting.
