My pattern says.....20sts and 28 rows=4"

so my gauge should be 5 stitches per inch right?

Hi

Seems fine to me - no matter which way you cut it - 20 stitches divided by 4" is 5 stitches per inch.

I'm not too bad on the inches bit - it's the metric - cms and mms that do my head and then converting old UK needle sizes into US sizes for a friend over there.

THANK YOU! That is all I needed to know. I wanted to make sure I was doing the math correctly. Or that I atleast had the concept! So YAY! This SHOULD FIT! LOL

3kids1036, 20 st and 28 rows/4 inches = 5 st and 7 rows/inch. But measure gauge over at least 4 inches, on a swatch measuring at least five. If this is for a large garment that you want to fit well, I'd swatch over about 7-10 inches, and measure multiple times, after washing, drying, and blocking the swatch..
