Hello Fellow Knitters - so sorry but I had many events happen in the last week or so and could not get to the post office to mail the blanket. I did get it out today! Hopefully it will be delivered in the next day or two to Humblestumble. So sorry!

Looks like I'll be trying to send this puppy out Monday after I have class (between 4PM and 5PM) :D Should I post a picture before I send it out?

Also, I am supposed to end on a wrong side row? So the new knitter starts on a right side row? Right?

Shandeh
11-25-2007, 02:41 PM
Thanks Angela. Is the instruction sheet missing that I included with the blanket at the start?

You are supposed to end with a wrong side row of all knit stitches, so it's easy for the next knitter to start, and it will look seamless.

Here are the instructions for working on the blanket.
(I made a webpage just for that, several weeks ago.)

Thanks so much!

Sandy, I've already bugged you about this once in a private message, but once again, I'm confused. :??
You last told me in a private message that I'd send to:
ElenTikvah (Wisconsin)-

On the list of knitters on the Second Oddball Charity Knit-Along Blog page, it shows me as sending to:

XbelovedXoneX (Michigan)

Are we supposed to consider the list of names on the blog page as the most current list?

I was wanting to do this! It sounds fun! Can I still sign up? If so, should I pm you and give you my address?

The blog is correct. The list of knitters is always changing, because of re-organizing. Sometimes knitters ask to switch to a different blanket, or they cannot knit at the time they are originally scheduled. So, I have to move things around.

I'm not sure why this particular change took place, but XbelovedXoneX is currently placed after you on Blanket #2. Of course, this may change by the time you actually work on the blanket.

I hope no one here is allergic to cats (after me) because I have cats. I tried my hardest to keep the blanket away from them, but one cat in particular has been lovey lately and jumped up on me tonight and layed on it as i was finishing it. I promptly got her off, but I am just warning.

And I do not see the instruction sheet, Shandeh, but thanks for the heads up.

Shandeh
11-26-2007, 03:02 AM
Thanks Angela. I was wondering why none of the Oddball #2 knitters were calling me. I put my phone number on the instruction sheet.

This was one of our first Oddball Blankets, so the list of knitters was not arranged by allergies. So, there may or may not be allergic knitters after you.

We got wise with the later blankets.

I received the blanket on Thursday afternoon. I got a few goodies as well. I will post pics in the morning. I have an inch done already, and hopefully it won't take too long for the other two inches. I will also print out a copy of the instructions to send with the blanket when I'm done, since the originals seem to have been misplaced.

Alright folks, I finally finished. Sorry it took so long, but the blanket showed up on my doorstep right as finals began. I did my section in maroon and white using the sparrow track pattern. I will be putting the box in the mail on Monday, as the post office is closed for the weekend. Here are a couple pics.

I'm just so very relieved that it appears the blanket will not get to me before Christmas. Yea! :cheering:

I'd had fears for months that it would show up at my house about now or sometime between now and Christmas. I'm always so terribly busy the week leading up to Christmas, and always have out of town company at that time.

Now it looks like it will definitely not arrive before Christmas. I have dreams of me sitting in my comfy chair, a good cup of coffee at my side, knitting without a care in the world. Ahhh.:inlove:

I left a message for ya Shandeh.

I'll look at my stash and figure out what I want to use. I probably wont start until this weekend though. We are leaving bright and early Friday for SA to visit with my parents for christmas. It will take the ride with us!

I still have the blanket. I haven't had a chance to knit on it. We just got home from vacation yesterday and it's been crazy. I've had it a little over a week so I shouldn't have a problem getting it done and out early next week. Sorry for the delay (usually I set everything aside to do these blankets) but I had a few knitting projects to finish up. I'm down to only 1 left and I've got about 20 rows on it.

So early next week I should be ready to send it out!

~danielle~

Just wanted to post an update as I know we all get excited about these projects!

I'm not quite done yet. Lane had a fever yesterday and was Mister Clingy. So I didn't get to knit nearly as much as I wanted to. I've got about an inch left and I hope to finish it up today. He's woken up and said he throat hurts (he's 3) but he doesn't have a fever.

So forgive me! I'm pushing into the start of the 3rd week! I'll have it out by the end of the week though.

Thanks Joan! I've been eating a low carb diet. I lost the weight in 2 months, so it was quick! Right now, I'm at a plateau, so I'm going to the gym to get the weight loss started again. Hopefully, I'll be able to lose the remaining 50 pounds I want to lose.

In my mail box, if there is a package, the mailperson leaves a key that unlocks one of the bigger boxes below, and the box she put the package in, had a key in it already! And was unlocked!

Our blanket could have been stolen! :hair: Im calling the post office tomorrow to royally complain. There is NO excuse.

It's still here in Texas. I have been sick with the flu all week. This is beginning my 6th straight day of being sick. I don't remember when I've ever felt this bad for this long.

I started off with a bang, knitting last Thursday night (a week ago), Friday night, and just a little on Saturday. Saturday night, I went to bed feeling bad. By Sunday morning, I was really sick. Every single night when I go to bed, I think to myself, "I will surely be better by tomorrow", and yet it hasn't happened yet. I know one thing. I'll never skip my flu shot again!

I had really intended to already have it in the mail by now, but I'm holding out hope that I'll feel better in time to work on it some more before my two weeks have maxed out. If not, I'll put it in the mail anyway. :pout:

You're most welcome for the goodies. Not knowing if you were a tea drinker, a coffee drinker, or a cocoa drinker, I figured if I sent some of each, you were bound to like one of them

The coffee is from a local coffee business here. The peanut rounder is made in good ol' Blossom, Texas, which is just about 5 miles down the road, so yes, it's a regional specialty. My preference is to send and receive chocolate, but I figured mailing chocolate from Texas to Arizona this time of year might be a tad risky. :???: I had someone send me a goodie box from Michigan to Texas in March one time, and the chocolate kisses they scattered throughout the box melted on everything. It was not pretty. :help:

I'm glad you liked the yarns and I'm happy the Cascade is something you'd been wanting.

I posted a couple of pics of the blanket on my blog when I finished knitting, but as helpful as everyone has been here in trying to explain to my brickhead how to post pictures on here, I still haven't got it; so thanks for posting them.

Thanks LadyB for the goodies!

Greetings OB knitters!

The blanket arrived what seems like aaaaaages ago (bad charity knitter!!), but I'm pleased to say that it is whisking it's way to larudden (Leslie) next. I sure enjoyed the chance to see this in person - it is MASSIVE already! :woohoo:

I couldn't find the time to do my full 3" but I'm grateful to have done my itty bitty bit. Thanks for your patience Leslie!

Shandeh - this adventure has grown in an amazing way - thank you for all you do to keep it organized!! :grphug:

Hi All!
I just wanted to let you know that the blanket arrived in Alabama today. I've already knit about 3/4 of an inch after reading all the journal entries and looking at the photos and postcards.
You knitters have done a fabulous job so far! I'm a little nervous about my contribution.
I'll post pictures soon.

I hope you have a fun time with the blanket, Sharon.
Isn't it cool to read the journal, and see the knitting that each person did? That's my favorite part. :)

Shandeh, I'll be mailing this Friday. I'll let you know when it's off. BTW, anything on your wish list?
Yay! I'm looking forward to receiving it. :)

Hmmm.... what am I wishing for?
How about some packs of sugarfree chewing gum!! :inlove:
I chew gum every day in between piano lessons. It keeps me from snacking too much. I like cinnamon, peppermint, spearmint, bubble gum, or anything else really. I'm open to any flavor.

I also like to read magazines like Life, National Geographic, People, Us Weekly, etc. So, if you have any old issues sitting around, you could pass them on to me.

The only knitting thing I want is a set of the Knit Picks 6 inch Nickel-Plated DPNs (http://www.knitpicks.com/6+Nickel+Plated+Double+Pointed+Knitting+Needle+Set _ND90298.html). They are my favorite dpns for sock knitting. They are on sale right now for $19.99. I have one set already, but I like to make both socks at the same time with dpns. That has been on my list for the past two weeks, and I've been waiting until I had a few extra dollars to get them.

Sandy - Be on the lookout for some reading material coming your way soon...I know I've got some copies of The National Enquirer and Star magazines lying around the house, and I am only too happy to send them on to you. Nothing like a good gossip rag to take your mind off the economy!!!
