Who's next for the blanket? Doesn't anybody want it or have I tainted it forever by taking it to Yankee Stadium? :teehee:

If I don't mail it out soon, I'm going to have to add another three inches!

Sadly, two of our Oddball Blankets have been eaten by the post office. :pout:

The first one was sent to the Netherlands, but never made it back. (She was the 2nd knitter, so the blanket had not really grown that much.)
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1384/539900320_6a6b1d4d82_m.jpg

The second one lost was our 4th blanket. This one had 5 knitted portions, so it wasn't big yet, but still some time had been invested in it.
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1300/538101522_a5887dcbfe_m.jpg

So, I guess we should each mail our packages First Class or Priority Mail, so we can add 65 cents for Delivery Confirmation. That will help a bit with keeping tabs on the blankets. Plus, we will be able to search for them in the postal system that way.

If you use a Priority Mail (http://www.usps.com/all/shippingandmailing/23daypackages.htm) Flat Rate Box, the rates are not that bad.

You can also write "HANDLE WITH CARE" on the package, if you want.

How sad  This is why I like to ship by UPS or Fed Ex, you at least get a tracking number and can follow it. The only problem is when you have to ship to PO Boxes. I have had so many things get lost in the regular postal system. Hopefully someday they will resurface.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I mailed the blanket out on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I missed the post about the other blankets being lost and just mailed it through the regular post office. Hopefully it will make it to MaryB!

:woohoo:The blanket has arrived in IL!:woohoo:

It is really beautiful. You have all been so creative with the stitches you chose. A whole lot of love is in that blanket.

DeAnzaJig included a beautiful Fresh Linen (my favorite scent) room freshener. Can't wait to plug it in!!! Thanks!

I'm off to find just the right yarn to add to the blanket.

Blanket #3 is ready to continue its journey.:woohoo: Let me know where and when to send it.

I used KnitPicks WOA in Black Cherry.

I think the blanket was a little bored-----it only watched the White Sox and Cubs on TV. 90 plus degrees and high humidity in Chicagoland kept us inside in the AC!!!:hot:

The blanket has made it to the Steel City along with some wonderful goodies from Mary B. Mary, thank you thank you THANK YOU!!! I love that yarn so much I think I want to marry it. Seeing as how I am already married, I will just have a passionate affair with it as soon as I decide what to make - I have no idea what that is, but it will be for me me me! (that isn't really as selfish as it sounds, I have been knitting for 2 years and I have only kept 2 things that I have made. 1 per year - ha!)

I have added some Galway worsted purple marl and I have some Berrocco Peruvia waiting in the wings if I need it along with some sunny yellow that Mary had tucked in there as well. It looks so pretty! I will send a pic if I remember. i'm really horrible about that, I never photograph anything.

So glad the blanket arrived! I went to the Post Office last Thursday and sent the package-----I made it home just before the BIG storm hit Chicagoland. We have not had cable or internet service since the storm.:gah:

Today we are finally back up and running. Glad you liked the goodies, Divagirl. Enjoy-----and knit something special for yourself with the yarn!!!:yay:

(The yellow yarn came with the blanket. Some earlier knitter included that.)

Hi everyone! Sandy, I will put a pic up. I have almost 2 inches done and I will probably be able to finish it up at the laundromat tonight. We had a water leak in the basement and everything is soaked - I said to heck with it, I'm going to the dang laundromat and getting it all done instead of wasting an entire day off chained to the house doing laundry.

Shandeh
08-30-2007, 12:00 PM
I used to not mind going to the laundromat at ALL, because I could get all my laundry done at ONCE! The only hard part was folding everything when it was all done at the same time. :teehee:

divagirl
08-30-2007, 12:34 PM
That's the way i'm looking at it - everything but the clothes I have on will all be washed at the same time. oi don't remember the last time that happened!

Divagirl, sorry about the water issues. Enjoy your quality (knitting) time at the laundromat.:eyes:

I have to apologize, because the shipping may be a bit delayed. My hubby dropped the package off at the post office, and gave the "to" address to the clerk to put on the package. The guy apparently switched the addresses, because a day later I got a notice of a package waiting for me from mjscott. I can't get to the post office until monday, as none of them are open over the weekend.

I'll have it off again as soon as I can!!!

Shandeh

kashadilla
11-07-2007, 12:42 PM
Oh my gosh. My post office is retarded. I'm so sorry this has taken so long, but they are extremely stubborn. Apparently, when hubby took it to send, I had given him a note card with the address of the next knitter. He gave it to the associate at the post office, and told them it was being sent to that address. Being the rocket scientists they are, they put it as the from address. A day later, a friday, it was sent right back to me, and I got a notice saying I could pick it up anytime after monday at 8. Except I couldn't, because the only time the stupid post office is open is any time I'm scheduled to work. Literally, the post office hours are exactly the same as mine and my hubbys work schedule. (we work at the same place.) I finally got there today because its my day off, and the guy kept telling me it was my fault and wanted me to pay to send it again!! I had a good long yell at him, as he was the same guy who addressed it, and eventually I won.

Long story short, it's finally on it's way. :cheering:

Hey everyone. I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to get the picture up yet. What with the storms we had here (power out for a few days), working, and wedding planning, I've been a bit busy.

I do want you to know I've been working on the blanket! I'm knitting a honeycomb pattern, black base with some 100purewool thrown in for color! I really like it. The last two colors knit on the blanket were yellow and green. The 100purewool I'm using has yellow green and brown so it's tying it all together. I'll get a pic up as soon as possible.

Hi all.

I am VERY sorry about having the blanket so long. I have been having some extremely serious family issues, and honestly those had to be my first priority!

Things have finally gotten better, and I got to the post office. The tracking number is 0307 1790 0003 5152 3842 it was sent priority mail and should be to Jan in two days.

Again I would like to apologize but family issues took priority and everything else went to the back burner.

Thanks for sending it on. I hope your family problems have passed.

I tried to answer this and my response didn't show up.

Again to all:

I am soooooo very sorry it took me so long to get this blanket to you. And I'm sorry I wasn't able to respond to the many e-mails I got asking about the blanket. I've missed KH something terrible. But I'm sure you all understand that family has to come first, and that everything else has to hit the back burner.

I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the blanket, but I think you'll like my addition. It is a honey comb pattern, with black paton's wool and 100purewool variegated yarn. The variegated yarn is yellow, green and brown. I tried to use colors that would pull in the most recent colors used in the blanket.

Now that life is somewhat settled (still trying to plan the wedding when I have time) I have time to read posts, respond to post and again offer my most sincere apologies for the delay.

Yayy! Glad to know the blanket is back. And I get it after knittingmom2three. Although I noticed she hasn't posted in almost 5 months. Does anyone know if she's still around?

Uh oh... I think we need to contact her before sending it. She may not be up for it anymore.

I've got about 1.5 inches done on it. I chose an olive green wool because it goes with the previous colors and any other color would look good with it next.

I am having issues which means I may only get about 2 inches done before sending. I'm finding that those Boye needles make my hands hurt and the awkwardness of them combined with the bulk makes my arms hurt a bit, too. I'll see how it goes, but I should be able to get it mailed early next week as soon as we are sure who to send it to.

Sandy?

When I got blanket #1, the first thing I did was transfer it to my Options needles.

Yeah, I should have, but I've done two inches now so I'm close to being done. Good idea though!

I just sent a message to knittingmom2three. Hopefully, I'll hear back from her very soon. Crossed Fingers

Thanks for replying knittingmom2three! :)

I didn't hear from you at first, so I was going to have the blanket sent to SabrinaJL in New Mexico.

Since you're in California, it makes sense to have it sent to you first.

I'll let Jan and Sabrina know.

The instructions with the blanket say to use: washable wool. Is it OK to use regular, old, hand-washable wool- or does it need to be superwash?

The information sheet had disappeared when I got the blanket, but I was under the impression based on our early conversation that it didn't matter. I sure hope not because I used Patons Classic Wool which WILL felt! :zombie:

If you want, I can add you to the "Pinch Knitters" list. Our pinch knitters cover for knitters that cannot knit when they are scheduled.

If you are interested in doing that, just send me a private message, with your name and mailing address, and I'll add you to the list.

I was hoping to get this done and ready to send by Monday. Unfortunately, it's really hot here today (got up to 100 degrees) and we don't have A/C. Not the best conditions for working on a wool blanket.

Shandeh
04-13-2008, 06:57 PM
That IS hot for this time of year! We've had really WEIRD weather in Charlotte, NC. I think we experienced all four seasons in one week. :teehee:

Hi Jeremy! :waving:

Sabrina has completed her knitting, and I'm trying to confirm the next knitter. Some of the KHers that signed up last year are no longer participating in the forum, so I keep moving down the list to the next person, and giving each of them a few days to respond.

Hopefully, I'll have someone ready to knit soon!

Hi Sandy,

I'm not on the list for Oddball Blanket #3, but I could certainly fill in a gap, if you think that is possible. I haven't received an Oddball Baby Blanket in about a week, though I did start two. I think I'm having withdrawl symptoms or something like that...

Thank you, my friend! You are more than welcome to participate. Just keep in mind that this blanket has 300 stitches on each row, and it's made with 100% wool yarn. It will be given to an international charity when it's complete.

Also, the shipping for these larger blankets is a bit more.

I also have some open spots on the other larger blankets, which are made with any washable worsted weight yarn. (Oddball Blanket #2 and #4 each need one more knitter.)

Send me a PM if you are still interested.

Ok, the blanket is on its way to the next knitter. I knit a stripe and a half (in a camo colored yarn and in grey). I tried to get a pic, but it's hard to get the blanket stretched out enough for a good one (the circs are pretty short).

Do you think I should send a longer needle to the next knitter?
I have some available that were donated for our Oddball projects.

SabrinaJL
05-15-2008, 12:37 AM
That's up to the next knitter. I moved the blanket to my 60" Options, which I would have done even if the circs were longer because I prefer to knit with them. I just didn't think to take a pic of it before putting it back on the needle it came on.

On the needle length - I'll try to get a longer one on and just donate it.

Shandeh, I'm wanting to send you some $$. I'll send the old needle with it. Maybe it'll be OK for a baby blanket. Is this OK?

And your donation of a longer needle is also very much appreciated. I'm sure the old needle will work perfectly for a baby blanket.

Welcome, blanket to Indiana! It arrived safely today.

I have the wool yarn now and will start tonight. DD wanted blue yarn, so blue it is. Can't find the longer circs yet. Our wonderful Ben Franklin closed this month. The big box stores out-did them, so now BF is gone. Big Boxes don't carry US9 36", but Ben Fr would have had them!!

Thank you, SabrinaJL for the pretty yarn and the cute stitch markers. My markers are plain or cut yarn. Now I have nice ones!

Will keep you posted on my progress.

Would you like for me to mail you a circular needle for the blanket?

We'll see what I can find at LYS. Not sure if it's worth the postage. Thanks for the offer.

Have several rows done. Am using 2 of the markers from SabrinaJL. A froggie & a flower.

The blanket is warm! I knit with it on a chair in front of me.

I hope all in the USA are having a good Memorial Holiday weekend. Not in the path of the severe storms and tornadoes. We're going to get a storm, but hopefully not a twister.

I'm at 2 1/2" on my part of the blanket. I may finish it tomorrow. :knitting: Four rows for another round of the bee stitch then 2 rows of garter & I'll be done.

DD wanted blue yarn. Harry Potter movie Ravenclaw fans will like it. It's next to light gray. That wasn't planned.

Was unable to find a longer needle that's affordable.

Shandeh, next address?
