I would just like to say how much I have enjoyed this forum. It really is such a hive of creativity you can't help but be inspired, and with nice people about to give you had if you get stuck. (And you don't make me feel likw a wally when I don't understand the simple things)

I look forward to more happy reading and posting.

Thanks

Uuhhhh What's a wally?? :teehee: :teehee: :teehee:

BTW: I know this place is awesome, newbies can ask for help w/o being treated like they are STOOOPID and the more exprienced knitters have the knowledge and graciously share it with you but not in a condescending : WHY DIDN"T YOU FIGURE THAT OUT ALREADY already manner??

and then there is always the YUMMY YARN PORN~!!

I totally agree. Until I found this website all I could do was knit straight accross and purl that was it. I also used to like to crochet more as I could do it better but with the encouragement from the people here I now love to knit way more because if I get stuck I don't feel silly asking a question. Awesome site I think I am here to stay.

A 'wally' is a stoopid person ....aka dumba$$ :teehee: it's usually an affectionate term as in 'you wally!!' along with a pat on the head kind of thing ...

I always feel so  when people say they love it here....it's just so darn cozy!

:teehee: when my brother or I would get a pimple... my dad would say, "looks like you have quite a wally there!"
No idea how he came up with that one...wouldn't make sense "you have quite a silly stoopid on your face!" :teehee:

I love it here too. No way I could miss a day reading about all of you. And when I have a question or problem, this is the place to help. I've heard there are some pretty nasty places on the WW, by that I mean people aren't very nice,..........about anything. Here, even when we disagree, we do it with kindness.

I didn't think but 'wally' is quite an English word. It's more of an affectionate way of calling yourself/someone a bit daft/stoopid! :D

I know how you feel, this is a great place. It has really helped me both in the learning process as well as just having other knitters with whom to interact.

Being self-taught I have no doubt that I would still be struggling with some basic ideas if not for the great people here and the very helpful videos that Amy graciously provides.

Not to mention that this is one of the very few knitting sites I found that aren't hostile towards male knitters but are instead quite welcoming and encouraging.

@Knitting_Guy

Are there really knitting sites out there in the net which don't like male knitters????

It's unbelievable  - to love yarn, to love patterns, to love knitting has nothing to do with male or female. I always thought all knitters are friendly....I think I have to reconsider that :??

By the way: I also love KH very much

I had been signed up to a forum run by people in my town and they were really snobby and not at all nice to self-taught people with problems. It seemed nobody new could find a way in.

If it wasn't for the video's on this site, I'd have given up my project long ago, as it is I'm near the finishing post now!

I like it, too. I'm finding it hard to keep up though, as this is such a happening BUSY forum!

It is a busy site isn't it. I had a day trip to London yesterday and didn't read it at all yesterday, it's taken me AGES to catch up with everything.
But I think that just proves what a good site this is and that loads of people enjoy spending time here soaking up the crafty atmosphere.

I have to agree, this is an AWESOME board!! It's true that there are some nasty boards out there- I'm on a few mom boards and they really can get mean!! One would think moms would be all about supporting each other, but... but I have never seen a mean word spoken here, this board is great!!

My cute little avatar is my lovely cat Buffy, who loves it when I knit! The photo was taken the first week we had her.

Hear hear! on all comments. I've belonged to a few forums and I currently belong to a current news one and this is by far the best in terms of broad support and celebration of both craft and knitting but also people who knit! As others have said, you can't ask anything too simple and that's SO important both to encourage the longevity of knitting and to generate a warm and positive atmosphere. I've learned many things since I've been here and feel there's so much knowledge and support that soon I will venture in to new item making because I know I can come here for help.

OMG, there are so many knitting snobs or just plain mean knitters out there. Knitters are like everyone else, some like the people here are nice and helpful and others are complete jerks. I've run across both kinds. Thankfully this place is a safe haven for knitters of both genders and of all levels of experience.
