View Full Version : Looking for a baby blanket pattern

I know, I know, there are tons of them out there. But I'm looking for something really special.
DH's cousin and his wife just announced that they are expecting their first baby in November. I'd like to make something nice for them, because I really like them, but I'd also like to make something that would really impress MIL and all DH's aunts, for my own selfish reasons :)
So what do you have for me? TIA!

I was looking at baby blankets right before I read your post. I thought these were cute.
You could also make a bunch of squares and sew them together. I really want to make a blanket like that. I've also seen cute patterns of a blanket, border, and then a ribbon threaded through the border. Also, if you're really interested in afghans..the book Big Needle Knit Afghans has a really cute April Showers baby blanket, along with a lot of other cool afghans.

I'm making a larger version of this pattern (http://www.straw.com/cpy/patterns/merino-stripes-throw.html) at the moment (if you want to see my progress so far, click on my blog link in signature) and I think it would make a lovely baby blanket with the right yarn. The stitch pattern is VERY simple (4 out of the 6 pattern repeat rows are all knit, then there's one purl row and one feather & fan row) but it looks really fancy.

This one (http://www.wiseneedle.com/patternpage.asp?pattern=knitpatlaurel) is my absolute favorite. I keep planning on starting it but I can't find a yarn I am completely in love with...one of these days.

Another cute Idea! Pooh! Here are some Charts:
Aww..still back to the sewing squares together...this time of pooh. Or just one big scene.

I'm making a Log Cabin baby blanket from the Mason-Dixon Knitting book. It's easy to knit and easy to customize.

I am making this one for my friend who is having a girl. It's very easy :)
