View Full Version : Felted garterlac?

I'm thinking about doing the garterlac dishcloth (http://criminyjickets.blogspot.com/2006/07/garterlac-dishcloth.html) with some stash WOTA, then felting it to use as coasters. I'll probably use two contrasting colors, alternating each row, since I don't have any variegated stash yarn.

This is going to be my first attempt at entrelac in any form - does this make sense? I have no idea how the size will work out, so I don't know how many squares/triangles I should do, or how large, but I guess that's the fun of it! I figured if I knew I'd be felting what I knit, I could just focus on the technique instead of obsessing about how neatly I was knitting.

Am I missing anything obvious that would make this a no-go? Any advice appreciated!

With felting you tend to lose stitch definition so most people do stockinette or garter stitch. There is no reason you can't do fancier patterns though. Entrelac in different colors would look great for coasters!

I was just looking over this:

garter entrelac discloths, then felted. enjoy!
