I'm curious for suggestions about a project for pencils.
What size would pencils be, Size 10ish?

Given the short length, I'm thinking a skinny project would be best.

I've looked up knitting with pencils and cap erasers plus clear nail polish seem to be suggested alterations to the pencils for premium functionality.

But what about projects, yarns, suited to pencils?

thanks in advance!

Are you wanting to KNIT with pencils??? I have heard of people on this board using chopsticks... Just measure the diameter of the pencil in mm and then match it up with the right needles size..it shoud be on the package of your needles and some knitting books have a conversion table for MM = needle size
Sorry I can't post a table but I am SURE somebody on this board could~

are you thinking regular pencils or mechanical pencils? i would think that you could use a needle sizer thingy to measure them just like you would your needles, but if you used a regular pencil, wouldn't the lead mess up your yarn? unless you were using a dark color anyway?

Lol. Just today I was knitting with two pencils. I was at this Art Expo type thing, and there was a setup to make beads and necklaces from magazine strips. Well, after doing that, I was bored and started knitting with the ribbon (that was used to string the beads on) and two pencils. I cast on five stitches and knit for about 6 or 7 inches. The pencils were unsharpened, but because the ribbon didn't lie extremely close to the pencil and was somewhat loose, it really wasn't hard at all.

UM...WHY do you want to knit with pencils?

If my needles (bamboo circs) are confiscated by TSA, or I am asked to put away my knitting during landing and take off when we fly on Monday, I will smile sweetly, put away my project, break out two perfect pencils and begin to make [insert your suggestion here] while their jaws flap and if asked to put my pencils away, I will acquiesce, so long as they make an announcement to the entire plane that all writing instruments will be confsicated immediately.

Don't think it doesn't happen. Relevant paperwork (printout from TSA website) means diddly to someone on a powertrip. Having proof that what you are doing is allowed just makes them angry.
