I'm knitting socks for a small child and they're likely to end up in the dryer. The only sock yarns I've come across that are labelled tumble dry are the so-called stretch yarns, for example, Regia's 4 ply wool stretch. My LYS carries a large selection of Socka, Regia, and others, and they told me they can all be tumble dried in spite of the labels. Does anyone have any opinions on this? I'm thinking that it may not matter because kids outgrow things so fast that any dryer damage (other than the socks shrinking to doll-size!) would be minimal.

Also, is there anything else I should know about these stretch sock yarns?

Thanks in advance for your help!

You know...I dry all of my socks and don't have a problem with shrinkage. I think as long as you're not using wool, it shouldn't be a problem.

My superwash wool socks make it through the dryer just fine....

I LOVE Panda Cotton, btw... its stretchy, but not TOO stretchy.
