I've heard of some of you doubling the base of your Booga to make it stronger - does this mean you double stranded the yarn? And if so, did you change needle size for that?

How else have you stabilized the bottom of your Booga bag? I read about plastic canvas too - how do you keep it from snagging the yarn?

I've seen a pattern for a felted bag that used *K 1, sl 1* for the knit rows on the base (and just straight purl for the purl rows), similar to the stitch often used for sock heels because it withstands more wear. It also makes the fabric stiffer than regular stockinette.

I don't know how it compares to double stranding, though.

In my Pursenality book it recommends a cardboard (covered in fabric) base for some of the bags. You could try that too. You do it after it's finished and just cut the cardboard to fit and then make a little pillowcase like form to fit over it.
