View Full Version : Summer Shrug

Finally got some pictures of my summer shrug I finished a few weeks ago. I was really excited about this project but not completely thrilled with the finished project. I was making up the pattern as I went along and definitely learned a lot - that part I'm pleased with, but the whole thing came out just a little too large (especially the sleeves). It's Knit Picks shine in worsted and so super soft so I wear it a lot anyway. Now I just have to make another one that fits me better and write down the pattern while I do it! Thanks for looking everyone! :-)

The same pictures are on my blog (http://sonironi.blogspot.com) in a larger size if you want a closer look.

I agree..write down the pattern..that's very clever of you. From the front with your arms extended as they are the sleeves actually look comfortable and not too big as such. There's just a little bulge in the back. The colour really suits your complexion and the cabling style pattern is really lovely and should hold shape very well.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I had a lot of fun with this project - great learning experience. Also the satisfaction is so fast with a project this size, I think it took me 2 weeks at most to get it all together. I'll get a modified pattern of some kind together in the next couple of days and post it when it's ready. Thanks again!

Wow, I LOVE it. I esp love the lace on the sleeves. I am just learning to knit and I cannot wait until I can knit things like that. Good job.

I agree, I would pay for a pattern like that.

Yes I would love the pattern too!

That is a very CUTE shrug and I like the "bell" sleeves even though you think they are too big.

Please PM when you have the pattern all written down! (I don't visit often!)

SOOOO PRETTY!!!!!!! :inlove: I've been looking for something just like this actually for myself for a new dress that I'm getting--it would be perfect (I wanted something that covered my arms because the dress is sleeveless, but with a bit of lace in the sleeves, and I wanted to pick up and knit stitches all around the shrug so you couldn't see my arms [I don't have the best arms] and that cabling pattern is so pretty!)! You did a GREAT JOB!!! :woohoo:

Please post the pattern if you don't mind!

I love your shrug. I am making one myself right now. It has a 7in cuff and is 24in across the width and about60 in long in a knit sts back and forth, very basic. I'll have to post a photo of it when I get it done.
would like one day to make something, someone would love to wear.

Any updates with the pattern?

How is it holding when you wash it??

I would love to knit this up!

No pattern as of yet, it stretches too much when I wear it, I think the neck is a bit large and the top of the sleeves around my shoulders is also too large. I'm thinking about taking the lace off the sleeves and border just to reknit the center part and then sew the lace back on. I've been busy knitting for my brother's wedding but I will get back to this sometime, thank you for reminding me Virtuous36!
