Looking for recommendations for a cheap sock yarn in a fingering weight.

I recently made a pair of men's socks from black Dalegarn Baby Ull that were wonderful...but at about $15/pair a bit pricy. I wanna wear 'em, not be terrified they'll snag, get dirty, wear out, etc. I'll save the expensive ones for dress wear.

I'm looking for something that will knit up nice on needles in the #0 - #2 needle size range and most importantly won't kill my wallet.

Any ideas?

I got some great (and super cheap) sock yarn from knit picks. It is REALLY colorful though, I know that not everyone is a big fan of super colorful socks!

Knit Picks (http://knitpicks.com/sock+knitting+yarn_YL300106.html) has some nice sock yarns, and they have great prices. Gloss (http://knitpicks.com/Gloss_YD5420151.html) and Palette (http://knitpicks.com/Palette+_YD5420132.html) both have some nice color choices for a great price.

Hi, I am new to the forum but have been reading for a while. I have been knitting socks and really like Fabel Superwash by Garnstudio. In Ontario it is $5.50 for 50 gr. 2 balls are plenty for an average pair. The patterns and colours are very nice.
