I'm making the casserole mitt out of the knitpicks free pattern Hot out of the Oven. I've made the first mitt, knit the band, and now I'm starting the attached oven mitt. It seems like wrong side is facing outward, meaning the purl bumps are on the outside of the mitt and the v's are on the inside. I've tried starting over several times, but I always get the same result. I'm wondering if it's supposed to be this way or not. I'm thinking maybe that is how you get the thumb on the other side, but I don't know. I've never felted anything before, so maybe when it's felted it will look the same?

Also, the pattern says, "from here, follow the pattern for the oven mitt. knit 29 more rounds before separating the thumb stitche as directed at round 31." Does that mean I would be knitting 60 rounds instead of 30? Wouldn't that make one mitt a lot bigger than the other?:??

Thanks for any help!

I was thinking maybe I could make the mitt with the wrong side facing out then turn it inside out when I'm finished? The other mitt isn't attached yet, so I don't think it would affect that, maybe just the side of the band that showed. I would think that if that was how it was supposed to be done, though, it would say something about it in the pattern.
