We had one today, got rid of quite a few things. Boy I'm glad that is over, at least for today. We did pretty well. I got a wicked sunburn though.

Plus I had to go into town, and drove right by my LYS. Gulp. I was proud of myself though, I didn't stop! I'm waiting for my summer swapee so I can really shop and not feel guilty about it. :rofling:

Anyone else having a yard sale this holiday weekend? Any tips?

Be willing to bargain!! We're not doing one this weekend, but we normally have one every few years - you know, get rid of some of the outgrown baby stuff to make room for kid stuff. Be patient, and remind yourself that you might throw this stuff away if not sold. Sometimes I also offered something for free if folks were buying lots of stuff. Good luck - and get some aloe or solarcaine on that sunburn!

We weren't really looking to make money just get rid of stuff! Anything that was kid related, I gave away. How you can tell a little 4 year old to give you 50 cents for that barbie she's holding? Ours have outgrown them, and she loved it, so I just gave it to her. I did that a lot if it was polly pockets or barbies, or anything for little kids.

People were suspicious if we tried to give something way or asked for a really cheap price. We have some space heaters we don't use and we wanted 5 bucks for them. They were like, what's wrong with them? I said, Nothing, I can't use them, you might, so go for it. They didn't take it. I wonder sometimes if the world is just getting too scary for some people. That makes me sad.
