Does anybody know any good 14" baby doll cardigan patterns? I have a cousin who is 3 and was thinking about knitting a cardigan for her favorite 14" baby doll. Do you think a cardigan would be a good idea? I was thinking that a sweater or something like that would be too difficult for her to put on the baby doll. Any suggestions and patterns would be great!!! I'm having trouble finding one I like on google since not all the patterns are free...

Hi..there are a load of free patterns on here. I think a cardigan good because it can teach a child how to use buttons. You could also - as a learning element - make each fastener different so a button and button hole, a hook and eye, a 'tie' and so on.

Ponchos are also very straightforward and another possibility.

I made the anthropologie capelet/ cardigan for my daughter's 18 inch doll- I bet it would work for the baby doll too... I posted my mods to the pattern somewhere here- it is a top down raglan and was so easy. I did not put a button or anything on it, but you could add ties, or something.

I also saw adorable patterns (cheap, but not free) for doll sweaters on e-patternscentral.com I bought a couple patterns for matching child/doll vests, and cardigans. They were just a couple dollars each.

good luck!
