Hooray! I've finally finished my dressing gown! :cheering:

It's my biggest project,(I've only done a scarf and a bag!).
It took 5 months, but I wasn't working on it everyday. I'm pleased it's finished and I am wondering what to knit next!

Here's the link to my photo album, I hope you like the finished item. Thanks to everyone who helped when I got stuck!

Awesome project and well done!!!

I think someone in my knitting group is making that gown. I saw it on Thur. At first when she held it up I thought that it was a skirt, but now I see what the finished product looks like.

Congratulations!!!

Thank you so much for your lovely comments, yes I am pleased with how it turned out. You can't really tell in the photos but there are little red flecks in the purple.

The pattern said 17 balls of yarn, it actually needed 19!

I could wear it out some where nice I suppose, I've only worn it for photos so far.

I'm glad I stuck at it, it was rewarding, it's a shame I don't drink alcohol because I feel I deserve one now!

You really did such a nice job on it!!!! I'm sure you're going to get LOADS of compliments on it when you wear it out and about.

what pattern is that? I would love it if you could share!! :inlove::inlove::muah::muah:

It's a pattern by Rowan in a book called 'Beads Buttons and Lace'. It was featured in a magazine called 'Knitting', that's where I got the pattern from. Hubby bought the book for me a month into it thinking there would be some tips rather than just a pattern but there weren't.

If anyone fancies having a go, I'll lend you the magazine so you don't have to buy the pricey book.

It took me from January 8th to 1st June to finish it. I am a patient person when it comes to craft, I really do believe you get out what you put in. Saying that I think the next project won't be so adventurous!

Ha! The modeling rocks! You made my afternoon. Great job. :cheering:

And you've just made mine! I didn't like the photos with me in because I had to where my hat as my hair has fallen out again. I haven't got a suitable wig so it's scarfs and hats at the moment. Unfortunately my hats are either fleece or fur! It's a bit warm at the moment to be wearing them and I just haven't got the guts to go out in my 'Southern Belle' costume wig! :teehee:

I have had that pattern for quite a while now, but wasnt sure I would like the yarn it requires. Now seeing what a beautiful job you've done, I think I'll go ahead and tackle it but maybe use organic cotton instead. Bravisimo!

I've looked at this so many times in "Romantic Style" and everytime I've thought "but who would have the bottle to start that?", so well done. It's certainly a heirloom piece. I always think it would look fab in cream over a simple wedding gown too. :D

I have had that pattern for quite a while now, but wasnt sure I would like the yarn it requires.

I didn't use the recommend yarn I didn't the feel of it. I used the weight equivalent in a nice but much cheaper yarn. I had knitted much so I didn't want to spend too much. I found I needed more than the pattern said by about 2 balls. There is a shorter version in the book 'Beads buttons and lace'.

It's a hell of project to tackle, but the satisfaction on finishing is AMAZING.

Thank you for your kind comments. I'm so glad you like it.
