View Full Version : FO: Impromptu Scarf

I've been itching to knit ever since we got back from Europe, so I ordered some Vacation (http://www.knitpicks.com/Vacation_YD5420116.html) and Get Away (http://www.knitpicks.com/Get+Away_YD5420117.html) from KP to make a couple toddler ponchos. When I knit up the Get Away, I didn't like it as much. The colors didn't seem to pop and it just looked kinda muddy so I decided to scrap that project and use both the yarns to make Dawn's Scarf (http://www.knitpicks.com/Dawn%27s+Scarf_PD50421220.html). I couldn't figure out the Twisted Drop Stitch so I just ended up doing 2 YO, because I knew they would give me what I was looking for. Now my impromptu scarf is almost half done.

I can't yet decide if it is absolutely adorable, or absolutely hideous. I'm afraid that it is definitely going to be a love or hate scarf when I am finished.

I LIKE it.

Well here it is finished:

and here is my hubby and I being silly and taking pictures like the girl on the pattern:

I still don't know how I feel about the colors. Maybe it will make a good gift for someone bright and sunny.

Is there something I should do to keep the ends of my tassels from fraying?

I like it! :) Great work!

I think its super cute- it looks soft and bright. and about the fraying: I'm not sure if this is "kosher" for real knitters but I dab a bit of clear nail polish on the end (think end of shoelace, but not as much). just enough to keep the plys together without feeling stiff....

Very nice!!! I love the drop stitch design. I think it's a great color combination, very cheerful for those blah winter days! Good going!

thanks everyone. It has been sitting next to me at my computer desk and I think it may be growing on me. Maybe if it gets cold enough to want a scarf this winter I'll be loving it ;)
